Susan Dalgety

Susan Dalgety has enjoyed a varied career in journalism and politics and has worked on a range of governance projects in Malawi since 2005. She is a columnist on The Scotsman and, pandemic permitting, travels widely with her husband, living in Malawi for six months in 2019 after a six-month road trip across the usa and a year-long journey across every country Sn the European Union. She was Editor of Scotland’s leading community newspaper, the Wester Hailes Sentinel, Deputy Leader of Edinburgh City Council, Chief Writer for the Edinburgh Evening News and Chief Press Officer for Jack McConnell during his tenure as First Minister of Scotland. She is a trustee of the McConnell International Foundation, the Scotland Malawi Partnership and 500 miles, a Scottish charity that supports the development and delivery of prosthetic and orthotic services in Malawi and Zambia. She lives in Fisherrow, a former fishing village at Musselburgh with her husband, economic researcher Nigel Guy. She has two grown-up sons and four grandchildren.
