EIBF: Moors and Bogs Deserve Another Chance

  • Garden Theatre Edinburgh International Book Festival 5 Charlotte Square Gardens Edinburgh EH2 4DR (map)

Part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The moorlands of Scotland and beyond fascinate art historian Robin Crawford and playwright-poet Donald S Murray. Crawford discusses what he found after evaluating the peat areas of the Outer Hebrides for a year, documented in Into the Peatlands, while Murray extends his reach from Lewis and the Highlands to the Netherlands and Australia in The Dark Stuff, unpicking why these landscapes have been represented unfairly in folklore.

Donald Murray's poetry, prose and verse has been shortlisted for both the Saltire Award and Callum MacDonald Memorial Award. Published widely, his work has appeared in a number of anthologies and on BBC Radio 4 and Radio Scotland. His collection of poems and prose The Guga Stone was described as a 'wonderfully eclectic collection of poems and prose by a gifted Scottish writer' by The Guardian.
