Michael Keating

Michael Keating is Professor of Politics at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Edinburgh and is Director of the ESRC Scottish Centre on Constitutional Change. He is a fellow of the British Academy, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Academy of Social Science. He has been writing about Scottish politics for forty years and has also published extensively on nationalism and territorial politics in Spain, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Canada. Among his recent publications are Rescaling the European State (Oxford University Press, 2013), The Independence of Scotland (Oxford University Press, 2009) and the Crisis of Social Democracy in Europe (edited with David McCrone) (Edinburgh University Press, 2013).
