Francis Thompson

Francis Thompson is the author of over thirty books. These include short stories, poetry booklets and several books about the Highlands and Islands.  Born and raised in Stornoway, he has a vast knowledge of the Highlands and of Gaelic history.  His deeply held beliefs that Scotland has its own identifiable and viable culture has led him to not only write about his beloved land, but also to involve himself in Scottish politics and the struggle to achieve full recognition of the Gaelic Language. He has recently retired from full-time teaching and still lives in Stornoway.
