Ashie Brebner

Allister (‘Ashie’) Brebner was born in 1935 in a tenement near Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen. He now lives in Strathpeffer, Rossire.

Upon leaving school at 15, Brebner trained as a motor vehicle mechanic, before getting work as a maintenance engineer in Aberdeen’s paper industry.

Ashie developed a strong love of the Scottish mountains, with the explosion of outdoor activity after 1945. So in 1963 he gave up his job and co-founded Highland Safaris; a nature and outdoor guiding company. He continued with the company until his retirement.
