Part of Winter Words Festival 2019.
Alex Boyd’s photographs of the ever-mysterious St. Kilda archipelago show the beauty of the islands, but he also captures the modern signs of military presence - jarring with the empty landscape. This inter-relationshop between heritage, myth and Britain’s ongoing role on the world stage as a major weapons producer, has had Alex returning many times to St. Kilda, collecting the images which would eventually become St Kilda: The Silent Islands.
Alex will take you on the journey with him, across the largest isle of Hirta, working slowly from the hills above Village Bay, or in the valley of Gleann Mór beyond, pointing out the plane wreckage, the strange military installations, as well as structures both ancient and modern built by the St. Kildans themselves.
Admission is £8.50 plus booking fee and tickets are available from the event page here.
