Walking Tour: Choose Life Choose Leith: Trainspotting on Location (Edinburgh Festival Fringe)

  • Leith Dockers Club 17-17a Academy Street Edinburgh, Scotland, EH6 7EE United Kingdom (map)

Part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Experience Trainspotting on location, including places featured in the book such as Leith Central Station, Leith Links and the Dockers Club.

Sharing the local history of Leith in the 1980s is Tim Bell, Trainspotting expert and founder of Leith Walks tours. Tim has been living in Leith since the 1980s, when it was considered to be the drug capital of Europe. Specialising in relating the geography of Trainspotting to its original base of Leith, Tim has collated his tour into a book, the forthcoming Choose Life Choose Leith: Trainspotting on Location, a combination of critical analysis of Irvine Welsh's works and a social history record of the Leith area.

The walk leaves from the Leith Dockers Club at 10.30am and lasts for a total of 2 hours. As the walk terminates back at the Dockers Club at 12.30pm, there will be the opportunity to buy a copy of Tim Bell's new book Choose Life, Choose Leith: Trainspotting on Location and have a drink at the club. Harbouring a wealth of knowledge of Trainspotting (the book, film and play), Tim will also be happy to chat after the walk.

Due to Health and Safety regulations, 15 tickets are available for each walk. A walking group higher than this would cause obstruction for pedestrians/traffic during the walk, therefore numbers are limited - so grab a ticket while you can!
