Edinburgh Festival Fringe: In Conversation with Darren McGarvey

  • The Stand's New Town Theatre Freemasons' Hall Edinburgh EH2 3DH (map)

Also known as Loki the Scottish Rapper, Darren McGarvey is a troublemaking hip hop recording artist, community activist, an unusually scrupulous columnist and social commentator. He is the author of 2017's Poverty Safari – powerful, provocative and entirely necessary at this time. Owen Jones described it as a 'challenging book that takes on not only the Right, but also the Left in the balance between social justice and personal responsibility'. He was an activist during the 2014 Scottish referendum and supporter of the radical independence arm of the Yes movement.
