Luath Press and Blackwell's Bookshop invite you to the launch of Facing the Nation: The Portraiture of Alexander Moffat, a celebration of Scotland’s leading portrait artist.
Charting Alexander Moffat’s career from student days at Edinburgh College of Art in the 1960s to Scotland’s Voices, commissioned in honour of Hamish Henderson and unveiled at the Saltire Society in 2017, art historian Bill Hare places Moffat’s painting within the history of modern portraiture, but also highlights his significance in Scottish culture. .
Hare emphasises that ‘almost single-handed’ Moffat has ‘upheld the importance of modern portraiture in Scotland… he has produced a body of work not only of high artistic quality, but also of national and historical importance.’
Admission for this event is free and all are welcome. Tickets available from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-portraiture-of-alexander-moffat-with-bill-hare-tickets-42861014448
