Swimming against the tide with Catriona Child

  • The Arlington Baths Club 61 Arlington Street Glasgow, Scotland, G3 6DT United Kingdom (map)

How do ordinary people deal with extraordinary events? To explore that question, the Arlington Baths is delighted to welcome novelist Catriona Child to talk about her novel Swim Until You Can’t See Land. The book charts the relationship between two rebellious women born sixty years apart: ex-professional swimmer Hannah Wright and Marièle Downie, once a wartime spy in occupied France. Catriona will discuss some of the novel's themes: secrets, swimming and the Second World War. She'll also talk about how she is inspired both by her love of sport - she was a competitive swimmer for many years and her sister is Eilidh Doyle, Olympic and Commonwealth medallist - and the stories her Granny told about her life during World War Two.

There will be free tours of the Baths from 6pm.

The event will start at 7pm and will last an hour.

Admission is free and all are welcome. To book your free ticket, please visit the Eventbrite page here.
