Samhradh ’78: Màrtainn Mac an t-Saoir le Gillebrìde MacIlleMhaoil

  • Blackwell's Bookshop South Bridge Edinburgh, Scotland United Kingdom (map)

Join us for the free to attend, Edinburgh launch of Samhradh '78 (Summer of '78), a new Gaelic language novel by Martin Macintyre. The event will be chaired by none other than Gaelic singer and star of the programme Outlander, Gillebride MacMillan, who will sing a song or two. Held in both Gaelic and English, this launch will be accessible for non Gaelic speakers and those who have just started learning!

'S E CUR AIR BHOG AN TÌR-MHÒIR a tha seo don leabhar ùr aig Màrtain Mac an t-Saoir, Samhradh '78. Chaidh a chur air bhog a chumail ann an Uibhist a Deas (far a bheil an leabhar stèidhichte) san Iuchar aig tachartas air leth soirbheachail, ach tha sinn cuideachd 's gum faigh luchd-èisteachd Dhùn Èideann cothrom cluinntinn mun nobhail beò-ghlacmhor seo. Sa chathair bidh sàr-sheineadair, cleasaiche 'Outlander' agus Uibhisteach, Gillebrìde MacIlleMhaoil, agus 's cinnteach gun gabh e òran no dhà dhuinn aig deireadh an tachartais!

Leanaidh an nobhail beatha dithis, Cailean Quinn agus bràthair a mhàthar, an Dr Ruairidh MacGillÌosa rè làithean an t-samhraidh a thug iad còmhla an Uibhist a Deas o chionn 40 bliadhna, fhad ’s a bha sùilean an t-saoghail air Alba sna chuairtean deireannach aig Cupa na Cruinne san Argantain (b’ iad na làithean!). San leabhar, gheibhear seallaidhean làidir, beòthail air beatha muinntir an eilein aig an àm a thaobh slàinte nuair a choinnicheas Ruairidh riutha na dhreuchd mar dhotair agus gu cultarach is e fhèin is Cailean a' rannsachadh beartas am beul-aithris. Mar a thèid an sgeulachd air adhart, chithear mar a thug na dh’fhiosraich an dithis dhuine rè an t-samhraidh ud, buaidh mhòr orra.

Tha an cur air bhog saor an asgaidh, feuch nach caill sibh a-mach!
