Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were enshrined in the United States Declaration of Independence and Aristotle described politics as the science of well-being. Yet the UK and the U.S. are ranked way down the 2018 World Happiness Report. Is citizens’ happiness the purpose of government or have policy makers been misled by cognitive psychologists who said that we can measure and translate the most private of feelings into political data?
Join chair Shelagh Wright and panellists including author of Radical Happiness; Lizzie Spencer, Health and Social Care Manager Windmill Hill City Farm, Bristol; and Lesley Riddoch, journalist, broadcaster and member of Nordic Horizons, to discuss happy citizens.
Tickets are £6/£4 and are available from the Festival of Politics booking page.
