Tribes of Glasgow with Stephen Millar and Alan McCredie

  • Waterstones Glasgow Sauchiehall Street 153-157 Sauchiehall Street Glasgow, Scotland, G2 3EW United Kingdom (map)

Waterstones launch Tribes of Glasgow by Stephen Millar and Alan McCredie.

Finding himself faced with a feeling of disconnect from his city of birth, Stephen Millar set out on a mission to capture the heart and essence of Glasgow, engaging with the patchwork of ‘tribes’ which make up the fabric of the city. Meeting with members of a remarkable variety of clubs and sub-cultures – including cosplayers, gunslingers, LGBT boxers and more – Stephen Millar and Alan McCredie bring their stories to life in a way akin to Humans of New York, through first-hand accounts and a blend of portrait and candid photography. Millar and McCredie will reveal their experiences meeting the tribes and how the book came to be, followed by a Q&A and signing opportunity.

Admission is free and all are welcome. Please reserve your free ticket via the Eventbrite page here.

STEPHEN MILLAR is the author of the London’s Hidden Walks series. He has written and provided photographs for a number of books and magazines, including the Independent on Sunday.

He has specialised in theatre and television but is perhaps best known for his documentary and travel photography. A member of Documenting Britain photo collective, he is a Perthshire man lost to Leith.
