Scottish Storytelling Festival: Scotland and Canada - Mutual Relations

  • National Library of Scotland George IV Bridge Edinburgh, Scotland United Kingdom (map)

Explore the close historical and cultural connections between Canada and Scotland, and their continuing legacy. Margaret Bennett is steeped in the Gaelic lore of Canada, while Chief Rose Anne Archibald is a First Nation activist and educator with family ties to Scotland. Donald Smith reflects on the sometimes-troubled relationship between Scots and First Nation peoples through the novels “River Thieves” by Michael Crummey and “Sick Heart River” by John Buchan.
