Hibernian: From Joe Baker to Turnbulls Tornadoes begins in the turbulent 1960s with the club in serious decline, culminating in relegation only being avoided at Easter Road on the final day of the 196364 season.

The appointment of legendary manager Jock Stein in 1964 saw an immediate improvement in the relegation-haunted side. The Hibs team of the mid 60s featured an all-Scottish international forward line, and the return of player Eddie Turnbull as manager in 1971 saw the emergence of possibly Hibs greatest-ever side the magical Turnbulls Tornadoes.

Packed full of detail this book is a must not only for Hibs supporters, but also for any football fan who is interested in this defining period in the history of our game.

Author Bio Tom Wright was taken to his first game aged nine, a friendly against Leicester City at Easter Road in February 1957. Little did he realise that football, and Hibs in particular, would become such a major influence in his life from that day on. Wright has now been a Hibs supporter for over 50 years, and has the scars to prove it. He is following in a family tradition of Hibs fans, which can be traced back to at least World War I. Previously the Secretary of the Hibs Former Players' Association, Wright is now the official club historian and curator of the Hibernian Historical Trust. This supporter-led initiative aims to protect, preserve and promote the proud history of Hibernian Football Club.
Back Cover Copy In Hibernian: From Joe Baker to Turnbulls Tornadoes, club historian Tom Wright marks a new dawn for the game and the end of an era for Hibs.

It was not only a pleasure but a privilege to play alongside so many great players at Easter Road during the 60s and 70s. People talk about Turnbulls Tornadoes but to my mind the team of the mid 60s was every bit as good. I was fortunate to have played under several very good managers who all improved my game, but it was made much easier by playing alongside players of the calibre of Willie Hamilton, Alex Edwards and John Brownlie to name but a few.
PAT STANTON

To play for Hibs during the time of the Turnbulls Tornadoes was a truly fantastic experience. As a Hibs supporter it was a joy to line up alongside so many great players. ALEX CROPLEY
