Part travelogue, part guidebook the book follows the river from its source in the high Monadhliath Mountains to Spey Bay on the Moray Firth. It considers all the elements that make this area unique, covering history from pre-Roman times to the present communities, natural history, economic geography, some geology, music, and the arts. Above all the book is sprinkled with anecdotes, sidelights and personal insights from authors for whom the Spey is home.
