JOHN MACKAY

John MacKay JOHN MACKAY was born in Glasgow of Hebridean parents. His childhood summers were spent at his grandmother's home in Carloway on the Isle of Lewis. John is a familiar face as the anchorman on the evening news programme Scotland Today . His career has been almost entirely in news broadcasting, firstly at the BBC and then at Scottish Television. He has reported on most of the major stories in Scotland in recent times, including the Lockerbie bombing, the Dunblane shootings and the creation of the Scottish Parliament. John is married with two sons and lives in Renfrewshire.

Writing the novels The Road Dance and Heartland gives John an oportunity to get away from the terse and factual news reporting of his job.

"The Road Dance is a neat story, told easily and simply by John MacKay... the story takes on its true depth, leading to a final and unexpected twist... [MacKay] has captured time, place and atmosphere superbly... a very good debut." - Meg Henderson
