JENNI CALDER
JENNI
CALDER was born Jennifer Rachel Daiches to a Scottish-born
mother and English-born Jewish father in Chicago, one of
America's great melting-pot cities. She has lived in Edinburgh
for over 20 years.
In April 2004 Jenni travelled to Canada
to help promote her book Scots
in Canada. Her biography, Not
Nebuchadnezzer, is a series of essays on the nature of
identity and self. In
Scots in the USA, Jenni charts the experiences of Scottish
settlers across the Atlantic and explores the relationship that
exists today between Americans and their ancestors from
Scotland.

JENNI'S BOOKS
The
story of the Scots
who went to Canada, from the
17th century onwards.
In Canada there are nearly as many descendants of Scots as there are people
living in Scotland; almost 5 million Canadians ticked the 'Scottish origin'
box in the most recent Canadian Census. Many Scottish families have friends
or relatives in Canada.

Not
Nebuchadnezzar
This is a biography, of sorts, and a description of the
all-consuming search for that elusive concept known as 'identity'. |

Scots in the USA
In recent years, the popularity of events like Tartan Week
has demonstrated the deep interest many Americans have in
their Scottish ancestry. This book explores the lives of those
who left Scotland for a better life in the New World. |
